2009-10-7 HAVE FUN HOBBIES in Vienna Ohio

I haven't raced at Have Fun Hobbies in quite a while and even longer since I raced on their indoor track. A bunch of locals from ARCS Hobbies headed down and we ended up having a decent turnout for a Wednesday night and we even had two heats of 2wd (Brent finished dead last). My tire of choice were the Hot Bodies Pink Beams on the rear of 2wd and 4wd, and I ran Hot Bodies Pink Fullslots on the front of the D4 and HB pink 2 ribs on the front of 2wd (Brent ran switches and qualified and finished dead last in the B). There was some good racing in all the classes and some new names keeping up with the pack. Rudy was consistent as usual until he mowed my ass in the 2wd main (Sorry Rudy, had to call you out on it!!! LOL)... Bill Shay just started running 2wd and was only a lap off of TQ pace and made the A Main with his X-6 that he bought off of Jim "I trade cars monthly" Misavage because Jim said the car didn't steer. Ryan Goff won both 2wd and 4wd.... not sure how he won 4wd because he had an unfortunate accident with a D4 on the last lap but he still managed to finish with only three working wheels. And did I mention that Brent finished dead last in 2wd in the B Main?

(did I mention that he finished dead last in the 2wd B Main???)

OPENING DAY!

The first day at Ryan's track went relatively well considering it was the first race. The only problem was with a $10.00 microphone that finally quit on us. I believe the final entry number was around 54 entries included Tim Covel who showed up to only run the B Main of Mod Buggy. I think we had round 11 heats total and managed to get through the day in about 6 and half hours from the time the quals started.

Tires were a challenge all day but we were never really a loss for traction. I ran Slicks during the first heat of both my classes and had my fastest qualifiers of the day. For the third round, and the mains, I chose Pink Taper fronts and HB Pink Megabites for the 4wd and for the 2wd I chose HB Pink Fullslots and HB Pink Beams on the rear.

Also, for those of you who haven't heard... the heat issue is fixed!! check out the new plastic hung from the ceiling to keep all the heat from escaping. There's no doubt the 2 Million BTU (no kidding) will be enough to have us in t-shirts all winter.

The 2wd class was awesome. Almost anyone running 2wd had a chance at finishing in the top 3 but first they had to worry about making the A!

The 4wd class was just as fun. The competition wasn't as fierce as the 2wd class but having two heats is always a bonus. Here's the A Main for the 4wd class.

ARCS Opening Day this Saturday, OCTOBER 3rd.

I shut this blog down a while ago because I was just too busy to update it.... which was obvious since my last couple posts have been nothing but pictures. I plan on posting something from every race I attend this winter.

This Saturday will be the first race of the season for ARCS Hobbies in Ashtabula. Ryan, and lot of volunteers, have fixed the heat problem for this year. The entire roof over the track has been sealed with plastic. There are plans to cover the pit area in the next couple weeks. More info to come.
